“Fasting is prescribed for you, even as it was prescribed for those before you, that ye may ward off.”(Al-Quran)

Its legacy is one of devout worship in the face of crisis. Allah says, "The goal of fasting is Taqwa and the goal of Ramadan is gratitude”. Ramadan is a time to focus on reconnecting with Allah Almighty, increasing our Eeman and Taqwa. But, how does one achieve that especially with the hustle and bustle of life?

‘‘O ALLAH, make the months of Rajab and Sha’ban blessed for us and let us reach the month of Ramadan.”(Saheeh-al-Bukhari)

It's extremely important to plant your seeds in Rajab, water them in Sha'ban, so that you may harvest as much as possible in Ramadan. Before Ramadan, westarted planting the seeds, that is working on the habits you wish to change, creating goals to achieve and writing a plan to get there and so on then it's time to start doing that now. We want to benefit as much as possible during the blessed month of Ramadan and make the most out of it which means we must start preparing now.

It’s a bigger test of our Taqwa than usual and instead of complaining about how things aren’t what they used to be, let’s pass this test by thanking Allah that we are blessed to have this month. It is what our hearts attain this month that will matter in the end.

It is narrated that Abu Hurairah said,‘‘The Messenger of Allah said, Whoever fasts Ramadan out of faith and in the hope of reward, he will be forgiven his previous sins.”(Sunan-an-Nasai)

The purpose of fasting is to allow the worshippers to concentrate their minds on devotion to their faith through prayers, expressing gratitude, seeking forgiveness and helping needy. The month of Ramadan is that in which was revealed the Quran; a guidance for mankind and proof and the criterion of right or wrong and clear proof of his guidance. So reboot your soul and refresh your Eeman and reinstall your Niyyah.
